Retired from Elliott Davis, LLC

Bio

I am a former Director at Elliott Davis, LLC where I practiced in the consulting services with a focus on forensic accounting issues related to white collar crime such as theft, embezzlement, Ponzi schemes, fraudulent conveyances and transfers in a bankruptcy setting and financial statement fraud, in addition to investigating allegations of possible fraudulent activity for various entities. I also audited internal control systems, implementing and enhancing complete accounting systems, developed internal control manuals and performed consulting services related to fraud prevention and detection control systems. My prior experience also included auditing of state/local government entities, financial institutions, publicly traded companies, and non-profit entities.

While I am "retired" I still accept a limited number of cases involving embezzlement issues or other matters requiring forensic accounting expert testimony.

I am the author of "Using Analytics to Detect Possible Fraud - Tools and Techniques" published by Wiley Publications in September 2013. The book is a practical overview of the first stage of forensic accounting, providing a common source of analytical techniques used for both efficiency and effectiveness in forensic accounting investigations. I have also authored articles relating to fraud and forensic accounting that have been published in the ACFE Fraud Magazine and the QuickRead published by the National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts.

I also present to various organizations on a variety of topics including fraud and forensic techniques, use of statistics in both audits and forensic investigations, internal control design and weaknesses and auditing techniques, including assessing risk and sampling techniques.
